Credentialing guide

Medical registration and licensing for visiting fellows

Programme admission, medical registration, hospital credentialing and immigration permission are separate approvals. One does not automatically establish the others.

Map the approval chain

  • Programme selection
  • National or regional medical registration
  • Hospital credentialing and scope of practice
  • Professional indemnity
  • Visa or work authorisation
  • Occupational-health clearance

Verify the exact category

Ask which registration category previous international fellows used and confirm it independently with the regulator. Limited, temporary, educational and supervised registrations can carry different restrictions.

Build in time and uncertainty

  • Check document certification and translation rules
  • Confirm primary-source verification requirements
  • Ask whether the start date depends on approval
  • Do not assume an offer letter guarantees registration
  • Keep written evidence of the permitted scope
